Every year the Southwest Regional Fly-In has
grown bigger and better in all respects.
Increased attendance is only one factor in this
equation.
A mile of flight line filled with all varieties
of aircraft is the centerpiece of our fly-in.
Only a few other fly-ins rival EAA TEXAS FLY-IN
in shear aircraft numbers. But, you do not have
to fly a plane to Hondo to have a great time!
A family can camp at their aircraft, in a tent
camping area, or bring a big travel trailer to
enjoy more of the creature comforts of “roughing
it.” There are literally thousands of acres to
enjoy. There are also many convenient local
establishments of accommodation both in Hondo
and nearby San Antonio.
The Food Court will be open from 8:00 A.M. until
the gates close at 5:00 P.M. And, each night
there will be a sit-down dinner available in the
hangar. Now that’s aviation ambiance!
About a hundred commercial exhibitors will be
there to show off the latest in aviation
technology. If you need that hard-to-find part
for your precious bird, the Fly Market is the
place to go. Children of non-flying parents have
the opportunity for their first flight with the
Experimental Aircraft Association program “Young
Eagles,” which can get them airborne in a safe
aircraft with an experienced pilot.
